The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the journal IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking (TGCN) for a two–year term starting on 1 August 2026. TGCN is jointly sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS), and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS). Based on the strong foundation established by the previous and the current EiCs, the next EiC is expected to play a major role in its further development toward a flagship journal in the Communications and Networking area.

Official Scope:

TGCN is committed to timely publishing of high-quality manuscripts that advance the state-of-the-art of “green” communications and networks including wireline, optical, and wireless communications and networks. Green communications and networking in this context means sustainable, energy-efficient, energy-aware, and environmentally aware communications and networking. The Journal will promote innovations, new technologies, concepts, and principles that will underpin a sustainable information and communications technology (ICT) eco-system. One of the objectives of the journal is to be the prime reference on the sustainable growth of the wireless infrastructure.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to: green wireline, optical, and wireless communications and networks; network and physical layer design, strategies, algorithms, protocols, and scheduling that consider environmental factors; energy-efficient and energy-aware heterogeneous networks, self-organized, and low-power sensor networks; energy efficiency in machine-to-machine communications, cooperative communications, and smart grid networks; energy harvesting, storage, and recycling for network cross-layer optimization; environmentally-aware designs of communications and networking devices and systems; and communications and networking for environmental protection monitoring.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc, SPS or VTS and an acknowledged leader in the field of Green Communications and Networking. He/she must have extensive editorial experience. Desirable qualities include: solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward. He/she shall agree to assume the roles and responsibilities of the EiC and realize that there will be no remuneration for service to the Journal.

The duties include interaction with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Associate Editors and members of the Editorial Board, ensuring that the journal follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC), the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity and timeliness of the journal. It is anticipated that special sections and issues will form an integral part of the journal in this formative stage; thus, the establishment of editorial teams to manage such special sections and issues is also of importance.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the TGCN Steering Committee, ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. They will serve on and be a member of the ComSoc Publications Council. The EiC is expected to participate in ComSoc Publications Council meetings and organize TGCN Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC in the Spring and IEEE Globecom in the Fall. The terms of service will be from 01/08/2026 to 31/07/2028 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Please submit nominations by 31 December 2025 to:

Marco Di Renzo, Director of Journals, IEEE ComSoc.

Nominations must include:

Name of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are acceptable).

A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page; with a discussion of research activities that are directly aligned with the scope of the journal.

A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience.

Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.

The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labelling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.

The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Wireless Communications (WCM) for a two–year term starting on 1 July 2026. The term is renewable for up to an additional two years.

IEEE WCM, a bimonthly peer-reviewed publication of ComSoc, is recognized as one of the leading sources of state-of-the-science information in wireless communications. According to the 2025 Web of Science Journal Citation Reports, WCM ranks among the highest-impact publications in the “Engineering, Electrical & Electronic” category. The magazine covers the full breadth of wireless communications and networking, addressing technical, policy, and standard issues across all media types (and their combinations) and at all protocol layers. Written in a tutorial style, articles in IEEE WCM provide practical and timely insights on emerging topics, implementations, and industry best practices, published through Open Calls and Special Issues. These contributions are further complemented by regular columns: Book Reviews, Scanning the Literature, Industry Perspectives, and Spectrum Policy and Regulatory Issues.

Eligibility and Qualification

The candidate should be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc, and an internationally recognized leader in the wireless community with a broad perspective on wireless communications. The individual must have commendable editorial experience and diversified technical expertise, along with the vision to guide an editorial team in identifying important and emerging topics, and attracting high-quality articles in wireless communications research and engineering practices. Given the fast turn-around time required by the magazine, the candidate should have flexibility and commitment to handle submissions promptly, assemble and manage a responsive editorial team, work closely with them, and ensure timely, high-quality reviews in conformance with the IEEE publication guidelines. Moreover, the candidate should work closely with the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council on matters related to journal management and development, ensuring compliance with IEEE Policies and Procedures, preparing reports for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee when requested, executing the policies established by the Editorial Board, and maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the magazine. Finally, the candidate must have a broad vision for the magazine, with clear strategies to improve submissions quality, enhance the review and editorial decision-making processes, and thus elevate the overall stature and impact of this magazine.

Selection Process

The EiC Search Committee of this magazine will carefully evaluate all candidates and select the most suitable candidate. All applicants will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation. The appointment of the final candidate as the EiC will be approved by the Presidents of IEEE ComSoc.

Application

Applications/Nominations must include:

Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).

A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.

A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate.

Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.

The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and clearly indicating the name of the nominee.

Please submit nominations by 15 December 2025 via email to: Yi Qian, Director of Magazines, IEEE ComSoc
